What is Code Tales ®?

Code Tales ® is a home learning curriculum to promote learning by doing and exploring. We believe children are naturally curious and love to play. We combine the two with our pedagogy that ensures kids make their own activities which offer a real sense of accomplishment and they learn in the process. All Code Tales ® products come with booklets and instructions which are easy for children to follow while they explore the product.

Code Tales ® teaches kids to code by home-delivering insanely fun app-building projects every month. Kids code their projects on the third-party website and their apps work on any device with a web browser.

What is the core idea of Code Tales ®?

With several activities designed around one concept at a time ensures deeper learning and develops logical reasoning & problem-solving skills. Since the output of each activity is a game or animation application, it makes learning fun which ensures your child masters the most difficult skill in a structured environment.

How are the boxes packaged?

All Code Tales ® products are extremely kid friendly safe. Code Tales ® products are shrink wrapped for complete protection and to ensure no one has tampered with your box. Also the third-party software’s as suggested in the curriculum are made by globally leading universities and education organizations.

For what ages is Code Tales ® appropriate?

Our main objective is to bring parents and their kids together to share quality time. Towards that goal Code Tales ® offers products for all age ranges of kids. From eight year old to seventeen year old, everyone can  find their spot at Code Tales ®.

Where does Code Tales ® ship? Is shipping free?

Currently, Code Tales ® ships all over India. Shipping is not charged extra. If you happen to be located outside India, then please contact us.

How long will it take for my box to reach me?

Once you have placed your order, it takes us 1-2 days to dispatch your box from our warehouse. We then send you a mail so that you can track where it has reached and how much longer it will take. It takes 3-7 days for the box to ship to most places in India.

Do you offer cash on delivery?

We do not offer cash on delivery yet.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all valid credit cards, debit cards and net banking & UPI.

What is your cancellation policy?

In general, you can only cancel an order if it has not been shipped. Contact us as soon as possible to cancel an order.

 

The box that I received seems to be missing a few components. What should I do?

Please contact us so that we can send you the missing components as soon as possible.

 

The box that I received is visibly damaged from the outside, what should I do?

Do not accept the shipment, and contact us as soon as possible.

 

What ages is it for?

Code Tales ® is designed for kids 8+ years in age.

How your kids engage with Code Tales ® box will depend on their age, of course. It's best if a parent or teacher can be around to help, especially at first. Older kids will move through the projects faster and need less help. All that said, we have a number of younger kids (as young as 6) who have had success with one-on-one help from their parents. If your kid can read, they can code with Code Tales ® box.

 

Can teenagers or adults learn to code with Code Tales ® box?

Absolutely. A lot of teenagers and grownups have learned basic coding skills from Code Tales ® box and enjoyed it!

Code Tales ® box is a wonderful stepping stone for any new coder. If you have a kid, learning side-by-side with them is a great way to do it.

 

What kind of computer do kids need to use Code Tales ® box?

A computer (Mac, PC, Linux, or Chromebook) with a web browser (Google Chrome is our favorite.) Code Tales ® beginner box for game & animations works inside a webpage. No complex tools to download and install. No worries about managing files. It's all in the cloud. And though it's theoretically possible for kids to do Code Tales ® box on a tablet, we'd recommend using a machine with a physical keyboard—typing a set of {} on an iPad is an ordeal, even for grownups. Code Tales ® Mobile App box works with Mac, ipad or iphone, android tablets or phones..

Can it work on an iPad?

Code Tales ® beginner box for creating games & animations can work on the tablet also though not ideal way. Code Tales ® mobile-app making box needs the child to have access to a android /IOS phone for simulation and app build. 

However, when they're coding, kids need a physical keyboard. So, if your tablet has an attachable physical keyboard, that's great!

What computer language are you using?

It's Javascript/HTML5. However, it's not naked Javascript.

Why Javascript? Because it's arguably the most popular computer language around. Javascript is neat because it's the language of the web. Facebook, Google, Pandora, and Twitter are all written in Javascript (at least partially). Javascript is also great because it's a close cousin to C, C++, Objective C, and Java, which are Big Important Languages used by Serious People Doing Serious Programming.

I want to try it first. How can I order a single box?

You can sign up for a three-month subscription, get your first box, and try it. If your kid doesn't like it, you can cancel at any time.

 

Can I have the first box shipped to one address and the remainder shipped to a different address?

Sure thing! Please place your order with the shipping address you'd like the first box sent to, then send an email to sayhello@stemmetaverse.io with the address you'd like the remainder of the boxes sent.

 

Subscription Questions

So what's the story with the monthly box?

Code Tales ® box works best with our monthly subscription box. Think of them like craft projects that are ready to be typed in and customized.

 

The fact that it arrives in the mail every month keeps your budding rocket scientist coming back for more, and it provides feature learning, activities, and encouragement for this whole computer science thing—without more screen time.

 

What if I want to cancel my subscription? How does that work?

It's easy! Just drop in a mail to sayhello@stemmetaverse.io or call us at +91 98 21 09 2796. (Please note that it can take up to 48 hours to process.)

Subscriptions can be cancelled at any time—meaning we will cancel the next automatic renewal of the subscription. We will continue to ship all of the boxes that you've already paid for.

Can I return my Code Tales ® box?

Unfortunately, we're unable to accept returns on any product that has already been shipped. We're also unable to refund unshipped products if you cancel your subscription midterm.

You can cancel your subscription renewals at any time. You will still receive all of the shipments that you've already paid for, but you will not be charged for future boxes.

 

My kid doesn't have their own email address to sign up with. Can they use mine?

If your kids have their own email addresses, then they can sign up for individual coding accounts, each under their own address.

If your kids don't have their own email, they can use yours. If you add a +SOMETHING to your own email, our system will recognize it as a unique email address, but any emails we need to send (say, if you need to reset a password) will go to you.

Who are you guys?

 

Code Tales ® was started by a power couple in Dublin, Ireland. They both are engineers, from prestigious Delhi College of Engineering, Delhi University, by profession with more than 15 years of experience in corporate world. They left their cushy corporate jobs to chase this dream, and built a team of passionate builders, dreamers, and educators.
